Vision:
Ö Educate the future generation to sustain good, godly, Christian music that is Biblically sound and pleasing to God; that they may replicate it wherever God places them to serve.
|
I want to explain why I specifically chose the word sustain and replicate.
Often times, many educators, teach for tests or for performances. Students lack the knowledge and the comprehension of the entire purpose of what the subject means. They just "memorized" the answers or the music. The students are not able to think for themselves.
In music, often times, the student solely knows how to play a particular song that will be performed for an event, but that student has no idea how to even read the notes he has to play! How then will this student be able to continue playing the instrument for God's use? How will he be able to teach others how to play?
I am committed to putting on great performances and opportunities for the students to showcase what they have LEARNED, but I do not want that to be the only thing taught. My goal is that the students will be able to continue their growth in music, so that they will be able to be used in church choirs, church orchestras, and beyond.
Mission:
Ö Provide a forum to study, perform, research, and appreciate music.
Ö To develop practical musical skills, acquire musical sensibility, and realize one’s musical potential.
Ö Colossians 1:18, “… That in all things he might have the preeminence.”
|
Too often, I hear from people, "I have no music capability whatsoever!" or "I am musically challenged." That is like me saying, "I cannot speak Spanish." I have the potential. I have the ability. I just was never taught how to speak Spanish.
Every person has the ability and capability to learn and to know music. It takes time, and it takes A LOT of practice.
Every student will have the opportunity to learn how to read music, sing properly, discuss theory, and create music.
Overall Goals
Ö Strive for excellence.
· Promote, establish, and maintain high musical standards.
· Provide curriculum that develops sensibility and appreciation for godly music.
